Basketball Game Preview: Richford Falcons vs. Winooski Spartans

Richford is 1-9 against Winooski since February of 2019 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Friday. The Richford Falcons will head out to face off against the Winooski Spartans at 7:30 p.m. Richford knows how to get points on the board -- the team has finished with 55 points or more in their past three matchups -- so hopefully Winooski likes a good challenge.

Richford is coming in fresh off a high-stakes matchup with another one of Vermont's top teams: Williamstown, who was ranked 18th at the time (Richford was ranked 23rd). Richford snuck past Williamstown with a 65-60 win on Wednesday. The score was all tied up 29-29 at the break, but the Falcons were the better team in the second half.

Meanwhile, Winooski waltzed into their contest on Tuesday with two straight wins... but they left with three. They blew past the Raiders 64-43. The Spartans have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won eight games by 20 points or more this season.

Richford has been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four matches, which provided a nice bump to their 13-5 record this season. Those victories came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 63.8 points over those games. As for Winooski, they pushed their record up to 13-5 with the victory, which was their fifth straight at home.

Richford didn't have too much breathing room in their contest against Winooski in their previous matchup back in January, but they still walked away with a 44-39 win. The rematch might be a little tougher for Richford since the squad won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
