Football Recap: Southern Comes Up Short

Friday just wasn't the day for Southern's offense. They were dealt a 44-0 defeat at the hands of the DeSales Colts on Friday. The Trojans have struggled against the Colts recently, as the game was their fifth consecutive lost matchup.

Cameron Bischoff continued his habit of posting crazy stat lines for DeSales, throwing for 252 yards and four TDs while completing 90.9% of his passes, and also punching in one score on the ground. The dominant performance also gave Bischoff a new career-high in passer rating (169.5).

Southern's loss dropped their record down to 1-4. As for DeSales, they picked up their first home victory, bumping their record up to 2-3.

Southern will have a little extra prep time after the defeat as they won't be playing again for a while. They'll take on Danville at 7:30 p.m. on October 3. As for DeSales, they will face off against Bishop Brossart at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. The Mustangs' defense has only allowed 14.8 points per game this season, so the Colts' offense will have their work cut out for them.
