Softball Game Preview: Polytechnic Panthers vs. Flintridge Prep Wolves

The Polytechnic Panthers will head out to challenge the Flintridge Prep Wolves at 3:45 p.m. on Tuesday. Each of these teams will be fighting to keep a win streak alive as Polytechnic comes in on three and Flintridge Prep on four.

Polytechnic is headed in fresh off scoring the most runs they have all season. Everything went their way against Westridge on Friday as they made off with an 18-4 win.

Amelia Shih was a major factor while hitting and pitching. On the mound, she tossed two innings while giving up no earned runs off two hits. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than two walks in ten consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, earning one RBI, one run, and one stolen base.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Brynn Connolly, who went 2-for-3 with one home run, three runs, and three RBI. That's the most RBI she has posted since back in April of 2025. Another player making a difference was Ellery Engstrom, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with three runs, one stolen base, and two RBI.

Polytechnic was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .444. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Westridge only posted a batting average of .300.

Flintridge Prep came out on top against Mayfield on Thursday thanks in part to the team's impressive nine-run third inning. The Wolves never let the Cubs get on the board and left with a 10-0 victory. Considering the Wolves have won six matchups by more than five runs this season, Thursday's blowout was nothing new.

Polytechnic's record now sits at 11-3. As for Flintridge Prep, their record is now 7-8.

Polytechnic got the 'W' in their previous meeting back in March against Flintridge Prep by a conclusive 10-0 score. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Panthers since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
