Basketball Recap: Omaha R Roadrunners vs. Varsity Opponent

The Omaha R Roadrunners had already won two in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 9.5 points), and they went ahead and made it three on Saturday. They really took it to Varsity Opponent for the full four quarters, racking up a 59-18 victory at home. For those curious, yes, that was the biggest win Omaha R has managed all season.

Leading Omaha R to victory were Jack Vankat and Stephen Vankat. Vankat scored 17 points along with five steals, while Vankat scored 23 points along with three steals. That makes it three consecutive games in which Vankat has scored at least a third of Omaha R's points. The team also got some help courtesy of Anthony Black, who scored six points.

Omaha R has been performing well recently as they've won five of their last six contests, which provided a nice bump to their 7-7 record this season. As for Varsity Opponent, they are on a nine-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 359-1298-2.

Omaha R does not have any more games scheduled as of now. Varsity Opponent's road trip will continue as they head out to face the Eagles at 10:00 a.m. on February 3rd.
