Southmont is 1-9 against Western Boone since September of 2017 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Friday. The Mounties will face off against the Stars at 7:00 p.m. The two teams might be coming in a bit winded given these two teams combined for 952 yards in their previous games.
Southmont is on a roll after a high-stakes playoff matchup on Friday. They simply couldn't be stopped as they easily beat Delphi Community 48-12. The Mounties might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won seven games by 20 points or more this season.

Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Southmont to victory, but perhaps none more so than Avery Stadler, who rushed for 189 yards and three scores, and also picked up 46 receiving yards. Stadler also put in work on the defensive side of the ball, picking up three sacks, forcing one fumble, and making ten total tackles. Heath Tolliver was in the mix too, providing Southmont with two TDs.
On the other side of the ball, a lot of the credit has to go to Southmont's defense and their five sacks. Stadler was especially locked on to Delphi Community's QB and sacked him three times.
Meanwhile, after only seven points in their last contest, Western Boone made sure to put some points up on the board against North Putnam on Friday. The Stars came out on top against the Cougars by a score of 49-42. The win continues a trend for the Stars in their matchups with the Cougars: they've now won six in a row.
Southmont better keep an eye on Jacob Smith. He was instrumental in Western Boone's win, rushing for 237 yards and three touchdowns while picking up 10.3 yards per carry. Smith was no stranger to the big play, taking off on a dash that went for 60 yards. Another player making a difference was Brennan Kopriva, who threw for 144 yards and a pair of TDs while completing 75% of his passes.
Southmont's record is now 9-1. As for Western Boone, their record now sits at 6-4.
Friday's matchup will pit two of the most dominant backs against one another: Stadler and Smith. Stadler just won't slow down this season and has run in 19 touchdowns while averaging 137 rushing yards per game. Smith has been a dominant force too and has run in 24 touchdowns while averaging 163.7 rushing yards per game.
Southmont came out on top in a nail-biter against Western Boone in their previous meeting on October 3rd, sneaking past 26-23. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Mounties since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
