Basketball Recap: Kohelet Yeshiva Takes a Loss

Kohelet Yeshiva and Mercy Career & Technical squared off in some playoff action on Monday, but Kohelet Yeshiva had to settle for second. They took a 64-51 hit to the loss column at the hands of Mercy Career & Technical. While losing is never fun, Kohelet Yeshiva can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Pennsylvania basketball rankings (they are ranked 461st, while Mercy Career & Technical is ranked 222nd).

When it comes to explaining why Kohelet Yeshiva lost, don't look at Chezky Levitt. Despite the final result, he went 13-for-21 on his way to 39 points. Levitt's afternoon made it 19 games in a row in which he has scored at least 15 points. Seth Hellman was another key player, putting up five points.

Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Mercy Career & Technical to victory, but perhaps none more so than Jeremiah Ford, who posted 15 points. Another player making a difference was Anthony Caple, who scored 12 points.

Kohelet Yeshiva's defeat dropped their record down to 13-12. As for Mercy Career & Technical, the win was the fourth in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 14-3.

Kohelet Yeshiva has already played their next contest, a 49-46 victory against Kimberton Waldorf on the 12th. As for Mercy Career & Technical, they will challenge Mesivta at 4:00 p.m. on February 18th. Mercy Career & Technical is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 55.7 points per game this season.
