Basketball Game Preview: Ashbrook Greenwave vs. North Gaston Wildcats

Ashbrook has gone 10-0 against North Gaston recently and they'll look to pad the win column further on Friday. The Ashbrook Greenwave will be playing in front of their home fans against the North Gaston Wildcats at 6:00 p.m. The teams are on pretty different trajectories at the moment (Ashbrook has three straight wins, North Gaston has three straight defeats), but none of that matters once you're on the court.

Ashbrook is headed in fresh off scoring the most points they have all season. They breezed by Forestview to the tune of 70-29 on Tuesday. The Greenwave have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won four matches by 28 points or more this season.

Ashbrook found their leader in freshman Jakyra Sadler, who dropped a triple-double on 21 points, ten assists, and ten steals. The contest was Sadler's fifth in a row with at least ten points. The team also got some help courtesy of AriAnnA Mcdowell, who dropped a double-double on 13 points and ten rebounds.

Ashbrook smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 11 offensive boards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least 11 offensive rebounds in seven consecutive games.

Meanwhile, North Gaston came up short against Kings Mountain on Tuesday and fell 45-32.

Ashbrook's victory ended an eight-game drought on the road dating back to last season and puts them at 5-8. As for North Gaston, their loss dropped their record down to 3-12.

Ashbrook didn't have too much breathing room in their matchup against North Gaston when the teams last played back in February of 2024, but they still walked away with a 47-43 win.
