Softball Recap: Mt. Diablo Red Devils vs. Campolindo Cougars
Campolindo hit Mt. Diablo with a four-run first inning on Tuesday, which goes a long way in explaining the final result. The Red Devils fell just short of the Cougars by a score of 7-6. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Cougars this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 14-4 back in April.
Mt. Diablo got a massive performance out of Dazzelynn Alon, who went 2-for-3 with three stolen bases, two runs, and one double. Leif Scallin also deserves some recognition as she hit her first double of the season.
Mt. Diablo's loss was their third straight on the road, which dropped their record down to 4-18. As for Campolindo, with the victory, they broke their four-game losing streak and moved their record to 7-13.
Looking ahead, Mt. Diablo will look to defend their home field on Thursday against Concord at 4:30 p.m. The Red Devils' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Bears have averaged an impressive 6.6 runs per game this season. As for Campolindo, they will head out to square off against Berean Christian at 3:30 p.m. on Thursday. The Cougars will need to watch out since the Eagles have now posted at least ten runs in their last nine games.
