Baseball Game Preview: Essex Trojans vs. Rappahannock Raiders

For the first time this season, Essex will have a chance to prove themselves in a conference matchup. They will be playing in front of their home fans against the Rappahannock Raiders at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The two teams have allowed few runs on average (Essex 3, Rappahannock 2.8) so any runs scored will be well earned.

On Monday, Essex came up short against Jamestown and fell 7-4. The Trojans haven't had much luck with the Eagles recently, as the team has come up short the last four times they've met.

Keion Hence was cooking despite his team's loss, going a perfect 3-for-3 with one home run, three RBI, and two runs. That home run marked the first that he launched this season.

Meanwhile, Rappahannock never let their opponents score on Wednesday. They came out on top against Lafayette by a score of 4-0. The Raiders haven't had any issues with the Rams recently, as the game was their fifth consecutive win against them.

Rappahannock's victory bumped their record up to 6-2. As for Essex, their defeat dropped their record down to 5-3.
