The Williston Mighty Red Devils will face off against the Forest Wildcats at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Both come into the matchup bolstered by wins in their previous matches.
The scorekeeper got an easy start on Thursday as neither Williston nor Chiefland made it on the board until the sixth inning. The Mighty Red Devils walked away with a 7-2 victory over the Indians. The Mighty Red Devils haven't had any issues with the Indians recently, as the game was their fifth consecutive win against them.
Sara Hollender spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered only one earned (and one unearned) run on five hits and racked up nine Ks.
At the plate, Jayla Coleman was incredible, going 1-for-4 with two stolen bases, two runs, and one triple. That's the most runs she has posted since back in February. Another player making a difference was Layla Crago, who went 2-for-3 with two stolen bases and one run.
Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Forest). They blew past North Marion 21-3 on Thursday. The result was nothing new for the Wildcats, who have now won five games by nine runs or more so far this season.
Forest also let their pitcher toss all four innings played and she was also dialed-in: Kylee Perez gave up only one earned (and two unearned) runs on five hits. Perez has been consistent recently: she hasn't given up more than one walk in four consecutive appearances.
On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on Mahri Lingle, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with one home run, three runs, and four RBI. Gracie Weibenbacher was another key player, going 2-for-3 with three runs and two RBI.
Forest always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .686. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.
Forest's victory bumped their record up to 10-5. As for Williston, the win got them back to even at 8-8.
The pitchers for both teams better look sharp on Tuesday as neither team is afraid to steal. Williston has been swiping bases left and right this season, having averaged 5.7 stolen bases per game. However, it's not like Forest struggles in that department as they've been averaging an even more impressive 4.6 stolen bases. The only question left is which team can snag more.
Williston couldn't quite finish off Forest in their previous meeting on Tuesday and fell 5-3. Will the Mighty Red Devils have more luck at home instead of on the road? Check back here after the action for a full breakdown and analysis of the contest.
