Basketball Recap: Glenbard East's Higher State Rank on Full Display on Monday

Glenbard East hadn't done well against South Elgin recently (they were 1-8 in their previous nine matchups), but they didn't let the past get in their way on Monday. The Glenbard East Rams strolled past the South Elgin Storm with points to spare, taking the game 66-48. Given the Rams' advantage in MaxPreps' Illinois basketball rankings (they are ranked 213th, while the Storm are ranked 553rd), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Glenbard East is on a roll lately: they've won three of their last four games, which provided a nice bump to their 9-6 record this season. The wins came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 61.8 points per game. As for South Elgin, their defeat was their third straight at home, which dropped their record down to 5-13.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Glenbard East won't have much time to rest: their next match is against Riverside-Brookfield at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Riverside-Brookfield will roll in looking for their fourth straight victory, something Glenbard East surely won't give up without a fight. As for South Elgin, they will head out to face off against Elgin at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. South Elgin is facing Elgin at the right time seeing as Elgin is stuck on a seven-game losing streak.
