Basketball Game Preview: Mesa Vista Trojans vs. Mora Rangers/Rangerettes

The Mesa Vista Trojans are taking a road trip to square off against the Mora Rangers/Rangerettes at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday. Mesa Vista will be looking to extend their current six-game winning streak.

Last Saturday, Mesa Vista didn't have too much trouble with Penasco as they won 61-46. Given the Trojans' advantage in MaxPreps' New Mexico basketball rankings (they are ranked 34th, while the Panthers are ranked 94th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Meanwhile, Mora posted their biggest victory since December 14, 2024 on Saturday. They took their matchup with ease, bagging a 47-17 win over Escalante. The score at the end of the third wound up being the final score as the Rangers/Rangerettes just coasted through the last quarter.

Mesa Vista is on a roll lately: they've won eight of their last nine games, which provided a nice bump to their 17-3 record this season. Those victories came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 57.9 points per game. As for Mora, their victory ended a three-game drought on the road and puts them at 11-9.

Everything went Mesa Vista's way against Mora in their previous matchup back in February of 2024, as Mesa Vista made off with a 52-30 win. Will Mesa Vista repeat their success, or does Mora have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
