Basketball Game Preview: Eastside Rams vs. Hawthorne Hornets

Eastside is 2-8 against Hawthorne since January of 2015 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Tuesday. The Eastside Rams will head out on the road to challenge the Hawthorne Hornets at 7:30 p.m. Both teams took a loss in their last game, so they'll have plenty of motivation to get the 'W'.

Eastside is headed into Tuesday's game looking for a big change in momentum after dropping their ninth straight game on Saturday. They lost to Wesley Chapel on the road by a 71-55 margin. While losing is never fun, the Rams can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Florida basketball rankings (they are ranked 484th, while the Wildcats are ranked 192nd).

Meanwhile, Hawthorne's undefeated season came to an end after six games on Saturday. They fell to Santa Fe 52-48. The matchup marked the Hornets' lowest-scoring contest so far this season.

Eastside will have to contain Chasion Wilson as he made an impact in Hawthorne's last game. He went 9 for 13 on his way to 19 points and three steals. The game was Wilson's third in a row with at least ten points. The team also got some help courtesy of Kelvin Baker, who posted eight points.

Having lost for the first time this season, Hawthorne fell to 6-1. As for Eastside, their loss dropped their record down to 1-13.

Eastside took a serious blow against Hawthorne in their previous matchup back in January of 2024, falling 49-20. That match was all but decided by halftime, at which point Eastside was down 28-8.
