Recap: Ridge Point Panthers vs. Tompkins Falcons
It can be hard to translate regular season success to the playoffs, but the Ridge Point Panthers had no problem doing just that on Friday. They managed a 49-44 victory over Tompkins. The victory was nothing new for Ridge Point as they're now sitting on nine straight.
Austin Carlisle got back to being his usual excellent self, as he threw for 303 yards and three touchdowns while completing 72% of his passes, and also rushed for 86 yards and a touchdown. Another player making a difference was Ashton Bethel-roman, who picked up 158 receiving yards and two touchdowns.
When it comes to explaining why Tompkins lost, one person who can't be blamed is Wyatt Young. Despite the final result, he rushed for 196 yards and four touchdowns while picking up 11.5 yards per carry, and also threw for 146 yards and two touchdowns while completing 85.7% of his passes. Young was no stranger to the big play, turning on the jets for a run that went for 57 yards. The team also got some help courtesy of Caleb Blocker, who rushed for 143 yards.
Ridge Point's victory bumped their record up to 9-2. As for Tompkins, their defeat dropped their record down to 7-4.
Ridge Point will face off against Lamar at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Lamar has been dominant on offense recently, as they've racked up an incredible 489 points over their last eight games. Tompkins does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
