Baseball Game Preview: Knight Hawks vs. Quartz Hill Royals

For the second straight game, Knight will face off against Quartz Hill. The Hawks will take on the Royals at 3:15 p.m. on Friday.

Knight lost 7-1 to Quartz Hill on Wednesday.

For Quartz Hill's part, Christopher Lozano tossed a big game, striking out six batters over six innings while giving up just one earned run off five hits (and only one walk). Lozano also tossed a walk, which is notable because the Royals are undefeated when he allows at most one walk, but 4-9 otherwise.

At the plate, Kayden Smoot and Marley Castaneda did most of the damage at the plate: Smoot went 1-for-2 with one triple, one run, and one RBI, while Castaneda scored a run and stole a base while going 1-for-4. Castaneda is on a roll when it comes to stolen bases, as he's now snagged at least one in each of the last five games he's played. Blake Johnson was another key player, scoring a run while going 1-for-2.

The victory was the third in a row for Quartz Hill, bringing their record up to 7-9. Those wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.7 runs on average over those games. As for Knight, their loss dropped their record down to 5-8.
