Wheeling had already won two in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 7 points) and they went ahead and made it three on Tuesday. They came out on top in a nail-biter against the Leyden Eagles, sneaking past 57-54. For the Wildcats, this counts as revenge for the 70-47 win the Eagles walked away with the last time they faced one another back in January of 2024.

The victory got Wheeling back to even at 8-8. As for Leyden, they have been struggling recently as they've lost six of their last seven contests, which put a noticeable dent in their 5-10 record this season.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Wheeling will face off against Prospect at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. As for Leyden, they will square off against Downers Grove South at 7:30 p.m. on Friday.
