Recap: Jamestown Red Raiders vs. Frewsburg Bears
After flying high against the Gowanda Panthers on Tuesday, the Jamestown Red Raiders came back down to earth. Jamestown took a serious blow against Frewsburg on Thursday, falling 86-36. Jamestown was given a dose of their own medicine in this game as Frewsburg apparently hadn't forgotten their loss the last time these teams played back in December of 2022.
When it comes to explaining why Jamestown lost, one person who can't be blamed is Alyson Canfield. Despite the final result, she scored 17 points along with five rebounds and three steals. Canfield scored a full 47.2% of Jamestown's points, the fourth time in a row she's earned more than a third of the team's points. The team also got some help courtesy of Anna Engquist, who scored four points along with eight rebounds.
Frewsburg was led to victory by Ava Jimerson and Jadyn Trocki. Jimerson scored 22 points along with three steals, while Trocki dropped a double-double on 21 points and ten assists. The matchup was Jimerson's sixth in a row with at least ten points. Another player making a difference was Teghan Trocki, who scored nine points along with six steals.
Jamestown's defeat dropped their record down to 2-2. As for Frewsburg, their win bumped their record up to 4-2.
Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Jamestown has the luxury of staying home another game and will welcome Mount St. Mary Academy at 1:30 p.m. on December 16th. Frewsburg will be home for the holidays to greet Southwestern at 7:30 p.m. on Monday.
