Volleyball Recap: Holy Trinity Tigers vs. Mather Rangers

Holy Trinity had lost nine straight at home dating back to last season, but on Wednesday they dropped down to 1-7 to make it ten. They took a 2-0 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Mather Rangers. The Tigers were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Rangers apparently hadn't forgotten their loss the last time these teams played back in October of 2022.

As for Mather, the win (which was their fifth in a row) raised their record to 6-3. While they didn't have the best season last year (they finished 1-17), it's starting to look like those struggles are a thing of the past.

Mather was led to victory by Destiny Ugalde and Anais Sanchez. Ugalde had seven aces and five assists, while Sanchez had four aces. Those seven aces gave Ugalde a new career-high. Sahara Malcolm also deserves some recognition as she had her first kill of the season.

Holy Trinity has already played their next contest, a 2-0 defeat against Walther Christian Academy on the 19th. As for Mather, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next match, a 2-1 victory against Chicago Mathematics & Science on the 18th.
