Recap: Evansville North Huskies vs. Evansville Mater Dei Wildcats
The Evansville North Huskies came tearing into Tuesday's game with three straight wins (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 17.3 points) and they left with even more momentum. They strolled past Evansville Mater Dei with points to spare, taking the game 58-42. That result was just more of the same for these two, as Evansville North also won the last time the pair played back in January.
Evansville North's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Libby Blythe led the charge by going 6 for 10 from beyond the arc en route to 25 points and 1 assists. Those 25 points set a new season-high mark for her. The team also got some help courtesy of Vanessa Nankwenya, who scored 12 points along with eight assists and three steals.
Evansville North pushed their record up to 8-3 with that win, which was their sixth straight on the road dating back to last season. As for Evansville Mater Dei, their loss dropped their record down to 5-7.
Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Evansville North will be home for the holidays to greet Tecumseh at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. As for Evansville Mater Dei, they will stay at home for another game and welcome Princeton at 9:00 a.m. on December 22nd. Princeton has been dominant on offense recently, as they've racked up an incredible 401 points over their last six matchups.
