Baseball Game Preview: Holy Name Green Wave vs. Cloverleaf Colts

The Holy Name Green Wave are taking a road trip to take on the Cloverleaf Colts at 5:00 p.m. on Wednesday. The teams are on pretty different trajectories at the moment (Holy Name has three straight wins, Cloverleaf has six straight losses), but none of that matters once you're on the field.

Holy Name gave up the first runs on Monday, but they didn't let that get them down. They walked away with an 8-4 victory over Orange.

Frankie Germano looked comfortable as he tossed three innings while giving up just one earned run off four hits. What's more, he posted five strikeouts, the most he's had since back in May of 2024.

At the plate, the team relied heavily on Mikey Tworzydlo, who went 3-for-4 with two runs, two doubles, and one RBI. He is becoming a predictor of Holy Name's success: when he posts at least two runs the team is undefeated (and 9-13 when he doesn't). Joe Svetz also deserves some recognition as he hit his first triple of the season.

Meanwhile, Cloverleaf came up short against Lake on Monday and fell 6-1.

Holy Name's win bumped their record up to 12-13. As for Cloverleaf, their defeat dropped their record down to 5-11.
