Softball Recap: Oakland Picks Up Fourth Straight Win on the Road

While Oakland put up plenty of runs on Wednesday, the same can't be said for Elkton. The Oakers put the hurt on the Elks with a sharp 17-0 victory. The Oakers have beaten the Elks the last three times they've met, but they better watch out: this was the closest the Elks has come to flipping the script.

Maddie Dalberti made a splash no matter where she played. On the mound, she tossed one inning while giving up no earned runs off one hit. She has been consistent for a while: she hasn't given up more than one earned run any time she's pitched this season. She was also solid in the batter's box, going a perfect 2-for-2 with three RBI and one run. Those three RBI gave her a new career-high.

In other batting news, Avery Hayes was incredible, getting on base in three of her four plate appearances with three runs, one triple, and one stolen base. The dominant performance also gave her a new career-high in RBI (two). Another player making a difference was Gwen Field, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with three RBI and two runs.

Oakland kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 11 hits. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Elkton didn't got any hits.

Oakland's win was their fourth straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 8-4. The team dominated over that stretch too, winning by an average of 14.8 runs. As for Elkton, they are on a 15-game losing streak (dating back to last season) that has dropped them down to 0-11.

Looking ahead, Oakland will head out on the road to square off against Douglas at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday. As for Elkton, they will look to defend their home field on Friday against Oakridge at 4:30 p.m.
