Soccer Game Preview: Lowell vs. Andover

The Lowell Red Raiders will head out to take on the Andover Golden Warriors at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Lowell's defense has only allowed 0.3 goals per game this season, so Andover's offense will have their work cut out for them.

Lowell is probably headed into the matchup with a chip on their shoulder considering North Andover just ended the team's 11-match winning streak on Thursday. Neither they nor the Scarlet Knights could gain the upper hand so the two teams had to settle for a 0-0 draw. The result (or lack thereof) was the first time Lowell have been dealt a draw since back in September.

Meanwhile, Andover's game on Thursday was all tied up 0-0 at the half, but luckily for them it didn't stay that way. Their defense stepped up to hand Haverhill a 2-0 shutout. Given Andover's advantage in MaxPreps' Massachusetts soccer rankings (they are ranked 63rd, while Haverhill are ranked 255th) , the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

The win made it two in a row for Andover and bumps their season record up to 7-4-2. The victories came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they scored six goals over those two matches. With that draw, Lowell's record moves to 12-0-2.

Lowell was able to grind out a solid win over Andover in their previous meeting back in September of 2024, winning 2-0. Do the Red Raiders have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Golden Warriors turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
