Baseball Recap: Portola Comes Up Short

Portola was the 2-1 winner over Irvine when they last played one another back in April of 2024, but their luck changed this time around. The Bulldogs fell 6-2 to the Vaqueros on Wednesday. The Bulldogs' defeat continues a trend for the team, making it four in a row.

M Liang was a force to be reckoned with on the mound despite the final result: he tossed six innings while giving up three earned (and three unearned) runs off four hits.

At the plate, Portola saw six different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Cooper Marinelli, who went 2-for-3 with two stolen bases and one double.

Portola's loss dropped their record down to 7-12. As for Irvine, the victory (which was their third in a row) raised their record to 11-11.

While Portola had to take the loss, they won't have to wait long to give it another shot: the pair's next game is a rematch scheduled at 3:30 p.m. on Friday.
