Volleyball Recap: Manitowoc Lutheran Takes Down St. Mary Catholic in a Playoff Battle

Manitowoc Lutheran extended their postseason success on Saturday against St. Mary Catholic. They sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 3-2 win over the Zephyrs. The victory was nothing new for the Lancers as they're now sitting on four straight.

Manitowoc Lutheran can attribute much of their success to Lilly Mehlhorn, who had 14 digs and one assist. That's the most digs Mehlhorn has posted over her last ten matches. Austin LaFond also deserves some recognition as she had her first dig of the season.

Despite the loss, St. Mary Catholic saw an underclassman step up: sophomore Emily Weiss had 13 assists and six digs.

Manitowoc Lutheran's win bumped their record up to 33-9. As for St. Mary Catholic, the defeat snapped their winning streak at five matches and leaves them with a 27-8 record.

Coming up, Manitowoc Lutheran will face off against Luther Prep on Friday. St. Mary Catholic does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
