Baseball Game Preview: Lost River Raiders vs. St. Mary's Crusaders

The Lost River Raiders are taking a road trip to challenge the St. Mary's Crusaders at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday.

Lost River fell victim to Henley and their airtight pitching crew on Friday. They lost 13-0 to the Hornets. The Raiders haven't had much luck with the Hornets recently, as the team has come up short the last three times they've met.

Meanwhile, St. Mary's made easy work of Hosanna Christian on Monday and carried off a 10-4 win. The high-scoring performance was a welcome turnaround for the Crusaders' hitters, who had struggled in the games prior.

St. Mary's got a great performance from Tai Zimmerman as he struck out 13 batters over five innings while giving up four earned runs off five hits.

On the hitting side, Tyler Archie and Zeke Beitler did most of the damage at the plate: Archie went a perfect 2-for-2 with four RBI, two runs, and one triple, while Beitler scored a run and stole two bases while going 3-for-3. Cole Mayfield was another key player, scoring a run and stealing a base while going 1-for-2.

Lost River's loss dropped their record down to 0-2. As for St. Mary's, their victory (their first of the season) made their record 1-2.

Lost River beat St. Mary's 7-3 in their previous meeting back in March of 2019. Will Lost River repeat their success, or does St. Mary's has a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
