Basketball Recap: Dylan Griffin's Big Game Can't Quite Lead University City over St. Augustine

University City lost against St. Augustine back in January and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Tuesday. The University City Centurions fell 60-48 to the St. Augustine Saints. While the Centurions didn't get the win, they did start the game off strong, beating the Saints 19-11 in the first quarter.

University City lost despite a true team effort on offense, the best among them being Dylan Griffin, who posted 18 points along with six rebounds and five steals. That was a full 37.5% of University City's points, marking the fourth time in a row he's put up more than a third of the team's points. The team also got some help courtesy of Jabril Abdullah, who went 7 of 13 on his way to 20 points.

University City has traveled a rocky road recently having lost four of their last five matches, which put a noticeable dent in their 11-12 record this season. As for St. Augustine, they are on a roll lately: they've won eight of their last ten games, which provided a nice bump to their 11-14 record this season.

University City wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next contest, a 45-44 victory against Scripps Ranch on the 7th. As for St. Augustine, they have also already played their next match, a 69-64 win against Cathedral Catholic on the 7th.
