St. Catherine entered their tilt with Brunswick Academy on Tuesday with two consecutive wins, and they'll enter their next game with three. They blew past the Vikings 12-2. Considering the Saints have won 14 games by more than five runs this season, Tuesday's blowout was nothing new.
Jenna Keefer made a big impact while hitting and pitching. On the mound, she struck out seven batters over seven innings while giving up just one earned (and one unearned) run off six hits (and not a single walk). She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than two walks in 15 consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, going 2-for-3 with three RBI and one triple. That's the most RBI she has posted since back in March.
In other batting news, Izzy Viruet was incredible, going 3-for-4 with two triples, three RBI, and two runs. Those two triples gave her a new career-high. Jordan Morey was another key player, going 2-for-4 with two RBI, one run, and one double.
St. Catherine's was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .382. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Brunswick Academy only posted a batting average of .179.
St. Catherine's pushed their record up to 18-2 with the win, which was their 11th straight on the road dating back to last season. The road victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 13.5 runs over those games. As for Brunswick Academy, their loss dropped their record down to 13-5.
Coming up, St. Catherine's will welcome Collegiate at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday. The Cougars have struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 18.21 runs per game on average), something the Saints will no doubt try to take advantage of. As for Brunswick Academy, they wasted no time getting back out on the field and have already played their next match, a 5-2 win against Southampton Academy on the 30th.
