PULASKI, Tenn. -
Giles County (Pulaski, Tenn.) saw its 15-point lead dwindle to nine, but still managed to hang on and upset
Trezevant (Memphis, Tenn.) 21-12 on Saturday.
After taking the lead on a touchdown in the second quarter, the Bobcats led 14-6 at the half.
Giles County expanded its lead to 15 points entering the fourth quarter. GC scored once in the quarter on a
Trevor Holder touchdown pass to
Kenton Baker.
The loss came as a surprise for the Bears, who entered the game ranked No. 24 in the MaxPreps Freeman Rankings for Tennessee, while the Pulaski school was ranked No. 25.
Coming into the game the Bobcats had allowed 21.0 points per game this year. Giles County held firm on the defensive front, and kept Trezevant well below the 32.2 points it had been averaging per game.
The loss comes after Trezevant defeated Dyersburg 12-7 last week.
