Preview: Cascade Christian Challengers vs. South Umpqua Lancers

Cascade Christian has enjoyed a two-game homestand but will soon have to dust off their road jerseys. They will challenge The South Umpqua Lancers at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Cascade Christian knows how to get points on the board -- the team has finished with flashy point totals in its past seven games -- so hopefully South Umpqua likes a good challenge.

Cascade Christian can now show off eight landslide victories after their most recent matchup on Friday. They blew past St. Mary's, posting a 60-0 win at home. The score at the end of the third wound up being the final score as Cascade Christian just coasted through the last quarter.

Cascade Christian got their win on the backs of several key players, but it was Ashton Moody out in front who rushed for 14 yards and a touchdown, and also threw for 132 yards and a touchdown while completing 100% of his passes. Luke Wilson got in on the action as well, converting a pick into a touchdown.

Meanwhile, South Umpqua had already won four in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 29.3 points), and they went ahead and made it five on Friday. They blew past Sutherlin 48-14 at home. The high flying offensive effort was a huge turnaround for South Umpqua's ten-point performance the game before.

Cascade Christian's victory was their 21st straight at home (dating back to last season), bumping their overall record up to 8-0. They've been dominating during the contests in that stretch too, as they've won by an average of 43.57 points. As for South Umpqua, their victory bumped their record up to 7-2.

Everything came up roses for Cascade Christian against South Umpqua in their previous matchup back in October of 2022 as the squad secured a 35-6 win. The rematch might be a little tougher for Cascade Christian since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
