The Bryan Station Defenders will face off against the Lexington Catholic Knights at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The two teams have allowed few runs on average (Bryan Station 2, Lexington Catholic 3.2) so any runs scored will be well earned.
Bryan Station is coming in fresh off a high-stakes matchup with another one of Kentucky's top teams: Montgomery County, who was ranked 18th at the time (Bryan Station was ranked 23rd). The Defenders were the clear victors by an 11-1 margin over the Indians on Monday. The Defenders might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won seven matchups by seven runs or more this season.

Karsyn Rockvoan made a splash no matter where she played. She looked comfortable on the mound, not allowing a single earned run and allowing only two hits while striking out 11 over six innings pitched. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't tossed less than eight strikeouts in 11 consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, going 1-for-2 with one home run.
In other batting news, Bryan Station let Tiahna Bowman and Adrienn Arcure run wild. Bowman went 3-for-4 with two runs, one stolen base, and two RBI, while Arcure got on base in all three of her plate appearances with three runs, one stolen base, and one double. Those three runs gave Arcure a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Olivia Greenberg, who went 1-for-3 with one home run and three RBI.
Bryan Station always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .536. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Montgomery County only posted an OBP of .238.
Meanwhile, Lexington Catholic had already won six in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 4.2 runs) and they went ahead and made it seven on Thursday. They never let the Yellowjackets get on the board and left with a 2-0 win.
The result came thanks to Abby Hammond's shutout, as she gave up just two hits and racked up 12 Ks.
On the hitting side, Lexington Catholic's victory was truly a team effort as four different players contributed at least one hit. One of them was Payton Coomer, who went 2-for-3 with one run and one RBI. Lauren Kelley was another, going 1-for-3 with one triple and one RBI.
Bryan Station is on a roll lately: they've won eight of their last ten contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 16-6 record this season. The wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.9 runs on average over those games. As for Lexington Catholic, they pushed their record up to 14-8 with the victory, which was their fourth straight on the road.
The batters for both teams will have to hit smart on Tuesday as both have some strikeout artists on the roster. Bryan Station has been retiring batters left and right this season, having averaged 11.1 strikeouts per game. However, it's not like Lexington Catholic struggles in that department as they've been averaging an even more impressive 7.2 strikeouts. Considering how easily both teams rack up Ks, the hitters on both teams better bring their A-game into this one.
Bryan Station couldn't quite finish off Lexington Catholic in their previous meeting back in March of 2024 and fell 3-1. Will the Defenders have more luck at home instead of on the road? Come back here after the game to get an analysis of the match and other softball content.
