Preview: Osawatomie Trojans vs. Wellsville Eagles
Osawatomie is 0-10 against Wellsville since January of 2020 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Tuesday. The Osawatomie Trojans will be staying on the road to face off against the Wellsville Eagles at 7:00 p.m. on December 12th. Both teams come into the matchup bolstered by wins in their previous matches.
Last Friday, Osawatomie earned a 60-47 win over Pleasanton. Given Osawatomie's advantage in MaxPreps' Kansas basketball rankings (they are ranked 28th, while Pleasanton is ranked 134th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Osawatomie can attribute much of their success to Tucker Fennel, who scored 24 points along with 9 rebounds and 5 steals. The match was Fennel's third in a row with at least ten points. Another player making a difference was Jasper Sallee, who scored 15 points.
Meanwhile, everything came up roses for Wellsville at home against Perry-Lecompton on Friday as the squad secured a 71-43 victory. The win made it back-to-back wins for Wellsville.
Osawatomie's victory bumped their season record to 3-0 while Pleasanton's defeat dropped theirs to 2-2.
Osawatomie took a serious blow against Wellsville when the teams last played back in February, falling 86-31. Can Osawatomie avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
