Phelps hadn't done well against Crandon recently (they were 1-8 in their previous nine matchups), but they didn't let the past get in their way on Thursday. The Knights walked away with a 3-1 victory over the Cardinals. That's the second time they've managed to beat them this season, as they also won 2-1 last Saturday.

The win didn't come easy: Crandon scored at least 19 points in every set. Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 25-21, 28-26, 16-25, 25-19.

Phelps' offense was headlined by Jodie Grasse and Keira Riihimaki, who picked up eight kills apiece. Riihimaki really made an impact as she also led the team in assists with 15. Haylee Barnekow controlled things from the service line, finishing with four aces.

Phelps is on a roll lately: they've won three of their last four matchups. That's provided a nice bump to their 4-14 record this season. As for Crandon, they dropped their record down to 1-11 with the loss, which was their eighth straight on the road dating back to last season.

Phelps and Crandon could both be facing uphill battles in their next games considering their disadvantage in the MaxPreps Wisconsin Rankings. The Knights (ranked 388th) will meet Three Lakes (ranked 123rd) on the 20th. Meanwhile, Crandon will face off against Waupun at 9:30 a.m. on Saturday with a big rank disadvantage (390 vs. 149).
