Basketball Recap: Tuba City Comes Up Short

If Tuba City was riding high fresh off their 53-29 takedown of Deer Valley on Friday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. The Tuba City Warriors fell 48-41 to the Casteel Colts on Friday.

When it comes to explaining why Tuba City lost, don't look at Eriana Begay. Despite the final result, she posted 14 points in addition to six boards and three steals. The dominant performance gave Begay a new career-high in boards. Another player making a difference was Taimani Tso, who put up six points in addition to eight boards and four steals.

Even though they lost, Tuba City smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with ten offensive boards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least nine offensive rebounds in eight consecutive contests.

Tuba City's defeat dropped their record down to 9-5. As for Casteel, they are on a roll lately: they've won four of their last five matches, which provided a nice bump to their 9-5 record this season.

Tuba City will square off against Monument Valley at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Tuba City is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 50.8 points per game this season. As for Casteel, they won't have much time to rest: their next game is against Miami at 2:30 p.m. on Saturday. Miami will roll in looking for their ninth straight victory, something Casteel surely won't give up without a fight.
