Franklin Kirchner put up the most strikeouts he's had since back in April on Monday. He didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only one hit while striking out 12 over 5.1 innings pitched. He was up against Hoffman Estates and has quite the history against that squad, as he also had a great game the last time he faced them back in April of 2024. Conant is 3-1-1 when Kirchner allows two or fewer hits, but 8-12 otherwise.

Kirchner's effort led Conant over Hoffman Estates and he'll get a chance to do so again: the teams have a rematch scheduled at 4:45 p.m. on Wednesday. The Cougars are 9-1 against the Hawks going back to May of 2019, a lead they'll look to extend.
