Softball Game Preview: Nordhoff Rangers vs. Fillmore Flashes

Nordhoff is 2-8 against Fillmore since April of 2019 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Thursday. The Rangers will be playing in front of their home fans against the Flashes at 3:30 p.m. Nordhoff has given up an average of 15 runs per game this season, but Thursday's game will give them a chance to turn things around.

Nordhoff is headed into Thursday's match looking for a big change in momentum after dropping their eighth straight game dating back to last season on Tuesday. They lost 16-6 to Hueneme. That's two games in a row now that the Rangers have lost by exactly ten runs.

Meanwhile, Fillmore came tearing into Tuesday's contest with three straight wins (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 6.7 runs), and they left with even more momentum. They never let the Warriors get on the board and left with a 19-0 victory. The result was nothing new for the Flashes, who have now won four games by 13 runs or more so far this season.

The team relied heavily on Justine Arenas, who went 2-for-3 with three RBI. Another player making a difference was Jennie Ponce, who went 3-for-5 with one RBI.

Fillmore always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .558. The last time their OBP was this high was back in March of 2024.

Fillmore's win bumped their record up to 7-5. As for Nordhoff, their defeat dropped their record down to 0-5.

Everything went Nordhoff's way against Fillmore when the teams last played back in April of 2024, as Nordhoff made off with a 10-4 victory. Will the Rangers repeat their success, or do the Flashes have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
