Basketball Recap: Springfield Comes Up Short

Springfield was the 47-44 winner over Pine when they last played one another back in December of 2024, but their luck changed this time around. The Springfield Bulldogs fell 55-48 to the Pine Raiders on Tuesday.

Despite the loss, Springfield saw an underclassman step up: sophomore Chase Burches went 7-for-10 on his way to 14 points in addition to eight boards and three steals. Burches is also on a roll when it comes to shooting accuracy, as he's posted one of at least 53% in the last six games he's played. Another player making a difference was Rowen Harris, who posted 11 points.

Springfield's defeat dropped their record down to 18-10. As for Pine, they are on a roll lately: they've won seven of their last eight games, which provided a nice bump to their 16-6 record this season.

Coming up, Springfield will face off against Albany at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. As for Pine, they will be playing at home against Mandeville at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday.
