Basketball Recap: Rivercrest's Luck Changes for the Better on Monday

Rivercrest won the last time they faced Newport and Armani Facon did her part to make sure it happened again. The Colts blew past the Greyhounds 62-36 on Monday for which the team can thank Facon, who went 9-for-18 on her way to 26 points along with five rebounds and three blocks. Rivercrest is 2-1 when Facon posts 20 or more points, but 0-5 otherwise.

The team also got some help courtesy of Ella Gonzalez, who posted a point in addition to 13 boards and six steals. With that strong performance, she is now averaging an impressive 2.4 steals per game.

The victory snapped Rivercrest's losing streak at three games and leaves them with a 2-6 record. As for Newport, they have traveled a rocky road recently, having lost four of their last five matchups. That's put a noticeable dent in their 4-6 record this season.

Rivercrest will be home for the holidays to greet Manila at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. The Colts will be up against the Lions' rather soft defense (which has allowed 52.2 points per contest), so fans could be in store for a big offensive performance. As for Newport, they didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next game, a 59-53 win against Wynne on the 16th.
