Melbourne Central Catholic has gone a perfect 10-0 against Satellite recently and they'll look to pad the win column further on Monday. The Hustlers will take on the Scorpions at 6:00 p.m. Melbourne Central Catholic will be looking to extend their current seven-game winning streak.
Melbourne Central Catholic took a seven-run defeat the last time they faced off against Rockledge, but this time they managed to keep it close and that made all the difference. The Hustlers narrowly escaped with a win as the team sidled past the Raiders 7-6.
Madelynn Prayto made a big impact no matter where she played. On the mound, she tossed two innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. She has been consistent for a while: she hasn't given up more than one walk in nine consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, scoring a run while going 2-for-4. What's more, she posted two doubles, the most she's had since back in February.
In other batting news, Madelyn Oesterle was incredible, scoring three runs and stealing two bases while going 2-for-3. Those two stolen bases gave her a new career-high. Peyton West also deserves some recognition as she hit her first double of the season.
Meanwhile, after soaring to 13 runs the game before, Satellite was a bit more limited in their matchup on Saturday. They took a 4-1 hit to the loss column at the hands of Vero Beach.
Mallory Hines was a force to be reckoned with on the mound despite the final result: she struck out six batters over six innings while giving up four earned runs off six hits.
On the hitting side, Satellite saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Harlowe Doolittle, who went 1-for-3 with one stolen base.
Melbourne Central Catholic pushed their record up to 12-3 with the victory, which was their tenth straight at home dating back to last season. The home wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 10.7 runs over those games. As for Satellite, their loss dropped their record down to 12-7.
Monday's game will be a test for both teams' pitchers. Melbourne Central Catholic hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .350. However, it's not like Satellite struggles in that department as they've averaged .395. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
Everything went Melbourne Central Catholic's way against Satellite in their previous meeting back in April of 2021, as Melbourne Central Catholic made off with an 18-2 victory. Do the Hustlers have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Scorpions turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
