The Herron Achaeans will take on the Waldron Mohawks at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Herron is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 7.6 runs per game this season.
Herron not only won on Thursday, but they posted their biggest win since April 1st (when they won 19-4). Their pitcher stepped up to hand Indianapolis Crispus Attucks a 14-0 shutout. The Achaeans have beaten the Tigers the last eight times they've met, but they better watch out: this was the closest the Tigers has come to flipping the script.
Jordyn Ault was a major factor while hitting and pitching. She kept things locked down with no earned runs or hits while striking out eight over five innings pitched. That's the most strikeouts she has posted since back in May of 2025. She was also big at the plate, earning two runs and one stolen base.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Layla Williams, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with one home run, three runs, and one stolen base. That home run was her first of the season. Taylor Cotham was another key player, going a perfect 3-for-3 with two runs, two doubles, and one stolen base.
Herron always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .759. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.
Meanwhile, Waldron was not able to break out of their rough patch on Monday as the team picked up their eighth straight loss. They came up short against Eminence, falling 17-2. That's two games in a row now that the Mohawks have lost by exactly 15 runs.
Abby Crouch was cooking despite her team's loss, going 2-for-3 with two stolen bases, one run, and one RBI.
Waldron's defeat dropped their record down to 5-9. As for Herron, their record is now 5-8.
The pitchers for both teams better look sharp on Tuesday as neither team is afraid to steal. Herron has been swiping bases left and right this season, having averaged 6.1 stolen bases per game. However, it's not like Waldron struggles in that department as they've been averaging 3.9 stolen bases. The only question left is which team can snag more.
Herron might still be hurting after the 15-0 loss they got from Waldron when the teams last played back in May of 2021. Can the Achaeans avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
