Baseball Recap: Mercer Triumphs

Mercer won the last time they faced Reynolds and things went their way on Tuesday too. The Mustangs skirted past the Raiders 4-3. The win made it back-to-back victories for the Mustangs.

The team relied heavily on Cole Fisher, who got on base in all four of his plate appearances with two stolen bases and two runs. He has become a key player for Mercer: the team is undefeated when he posts at least two runs, but 4-8 otherwise. The team also got some help courtesy of Parker Puskar, who got on base in two of his four plate appearances with two stolen bases and one RBI.

Mercer always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .516. They are 2-1 when they post an OBP of .513 or better.

The win got Mercer back to even at 8-8. As for Reynolds, they are on a 19-game losing streak (dating back to last season) that has dropped them down to 0-12.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Mercer will face off against Redbank Valley at 4:00 p.m. on Wednesday. The Bulldogs' pitching crew has only allowed 2.9 runs per game this season, so the Mustangs' hitters will have their work cut out for them. As for Reynolds, they will square off against Sharpsville at 4:15 p.m. on Wednesday. The Blue Devils will aim to continue their three-game streak of scoring more runs each matchup than the last.
