Son of new Denver Broncos defensive coordinator has received interest from Alabama, Florida State and USC.

Football fans in the Denver, Colo., area are eagerly anticipating what high school Luke Del Rio will be attending later this year, when his family moves from Jacksonville, Fla.

Luke is the son of former Jacksonville Jaguars head coach Jack Del Rio, who last week was hired as the defensive coordinator of the Denver Broncos. His first day on the job was Monday.

A 6-foot-2, 195-pound quarterback, Luke had a great junior year at Episcopal (Jacksonville, Fla.). During the regular season, he passed for 2,530 yards and 20 touchdowns, gaining interest from such Division I schools as Alabama, Florida State and USC.

Jack Del Rio told MaxPreps today that he is looking at public schools Cherry Creek (Greenwood Village, Colo.) and Grandview (Aurora, Colo.), and private schools Regis Jesuit (Aurora, Colo.) and Valor Christian (Highlands Ranch, Colo.).

He related, "We're trying to find a good fit academically, socially and athletically. It's a tough time for a young man to be changing, but we'll attack it head-on. There's a lot of good football being played in Colorado and the Denver area."

Del Rio said his son has improved greatly since his sophomore year.

"He had a pretty significant (junior) year," he said. "He's spent a lot of time with Steve Clarkson in Los Angeles. We've been there five times. He is light years ahead of where he was a year ago. I'm most proud of his work ethic. He is 6-2, 195 pounds and growing. He's got my hands and feet, so I don't think he's through growing."
