Volleyball Recap: Hebron Gets the Win

Hebron proved they can win big on Saturday (they won by three) and on Monday they proved they can win the close ones too. They had just enough and edged out the Kankakee Valley Kougars 3-2. That's more bragging rights for the Hawks, who also won the pair's last head-to-head.

The match was a true back-and-forth as no team won consecutive sets, but in the end it was Hebron who won the one that mattered. Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 25-20, 22-25, 25-22, 22-25, 15-7.

Hebron found their leader in sophomore Antonio Pena, who had 21 digs, three aces, and two blocks. Pena also set a new season-high mark in assists with 38.

Hebron was lethal from the service line and finished the game with 12 aces. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Kankakee Valley only served six aces.

Hebron is on a roll lately: they've won three of their last four contests. That's provided a massive bump to their 5-7 record this season. As for Kankakee Valley, they dropped their record down to 1-9 with the defeat, which was their fifth straight on the road dating back to last season.

Hebron didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next match, a 3-1 loss against Kouts on the 30th. As for Kankakee Valley, they have also already played their next game, a 3-0 defeat against Hammond Bishop Noll on the 30th.
