Baseball Game Preview: LaGrange Gators vs. Abbeville Wildcats

The LaGrange Gators will head out to take on the Abbeville Wildcats at 12:00 p.m. on Saturday. LaGrange has now lost 12 straight, leaving the team hunting for their first win since March 5.

LaGrange came up short against St. Martinville on Friday, falling 17-2.

Meanwhile, it was a proper cat-fight when Abbeville duked it out with Marksville on Wednesday. The Wildcats lost 15-5 to the Tigers.

Abbeville saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Ryan Thibodeaux, who got on base in all three of his plate appearances with one stolen base and one RBI.

Abbeville has also traveled a rocky road recently, having lost nine of their last 12 contests. That's put a noticeable dent in their 5-12 record this season. As for LaGrange, their loss dropped their record down to 3-20.

LaGrange took their win against Abbeville when the teams last played back in March of 2024 by a conclusive 14-1 score. Will the Gators repeat their success, or do the Wildcats have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
