Preview: Dunbar Wildcats vs. Carter-Riverside Eagles

Dunbar is 10-0 against Carter-Riverside since February of 2017, and they'll have a chance to extend that success on Friday. The Dunbar Wildcats will be playing in front of their home fans against the Carter-Riverside Eagles at 7:30 p.m. The teams are on pretty different trajectories at the moment (Dunbar has three straight wins, Carter-Riverside has 23 straight defeats), but none of that matters once you're on the field.

Dunbar put the finishing touches on their seventh blowout victory of the season on Tuesday. They claimed a resounding 89-49 win over Young Men's Leadership Academy at home. Given Dunbar's advantage in MaxPreps' Texas basketball rankings (they are ranked 377th, while Young Men's Leadership Academy is ranked 1349th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Meanwhile, Carter-Riverside was beaten by Benbrook 76-12 on Tuesday. Carter-Riverside was in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 47-7.

Perhaps unsurprisingly given the score, Carter-Riverside struggled to get the ball back on offense and finished the game with only three offensive rebounds. They are winless (0-6) when they can't control their own glass like that.

Dunbar is on a roll lately: they've won seven of their last eight games, which provided a nice bump to their 12-11 record this season. As for Carter-Riverside, their defeat was their ninth straight on the road, which dropped their record down to 2-25.

Everything came up roses for Dunbar against Carter-Riverside when the teams last played back in January as the team secured a 84-17 win. With Dunbar ahead 55-10 at the half, the matchup was all but over already.
