Basketball Recap: Essex Trojans vs. West Point Pointers

Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Essex). They walked away with a 60-51 win over the West Point Pointers on Monday. The Trojans have seen this before: they got the W the last time they saw the Pointers, too.

Essex was led to victory by Morgan Self and Makiryn Williams. Self went 8 for 16 en route to 23 points in addition to seven boards and six blocks, while Williams dropped a double-double on 14 points and 15 rebounds. Williams is on a roll when it comes to rebounds, as she's now pulled down eight or more in the last seven games she's played. Octavia Floyd was another key player, putting up seven points.

Essex smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 19 offensive boards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least eight offensive rebounds in 22 consecutive contests dating back to last season.
