Baseball Recap: Niles Notre Dame Comes Up Short

Niles Notre Dame was not able to break out of their rough patch on Saturday as the team picked up their ninth straight loss. They lost 11-0 to the Benet Academy Redwings. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Redwings this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 3-2 on Saturday.

Niles Notre Dame saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Dominic Holton, who went 1-for-3 with one double.

Niles Notre Dame's defeat dropped their record down to 8-15-1. As for Benet Academy, they have been performing incredibly well recently as they've won eight of their last nine contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 18-8 record this season.

We've got plenty of inter-conference action coming up soon. Niles Notre Dame will square off against rival Carmel at 4:30 p.m. on Monday. Meanwhile, Benet Academy is set to challenge their familiar foe Joliet Catholic at 4:30 p.m. on Monday. The two teams have allowed few runs on average (the Redwings 3.6, the Hilltoppers 3.1) so any runs scored will be well earned.
