Volleyball Recap: Taft Victorious

While Taft didn't have the best season last year (they finished 15-26), it's starting to look like those struggles are a thing of the past. They narrowly escaped with a victory as the team sidled past the Johnson City Eagles 2-1. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest win the Raiders have posted since August 16th.

It was an exciting match in which no team won back-to-back sets, but at the end of the day Taft got the one that really mattered. The match finished with set scores of 25-10, 23-25, 25-19.

Casyn Jefferson paced Taft's offense, picking up 18 kills. Jefferson got some help from Addison Duarte and her 18 assists. Allyson Rosa controlled things from the service line, finishing with three aces.

Taft's victory bumped their record up to 10-5. As for Johnson City, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 9-8.

Taft wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next game, a 2-1 win against Seguin on the 23rd. As for Johnson City, they will be defending their home court for the first time this season when they go up against Burnet at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The Bulldogs will roll in looking for their fifth straight victory, something the Eagles surely won't give up without a fight.
