Basketball Recap: D.C. Everest Comes Up Short

If D.C. Everest was riding high fresh off their 57-27 takedown of Wausau East last Friday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. The D.C. Everest Evergreens lost to the Marshfield Tigers at home by a 51-33 margin on Tuesday. The loss continues a trend for the Evergreens in their matchups with the Tigers: they've now lost eight in a row.

Marshfield was led to victory by Zaida Kolbeck and Hailey Klumb. Kolbeck went 8 for 16 en route to 24 points in addition to five assists and five steals, while Klumb went 5 of 10 on her way to 16 points and eight rebounds. Those 16 points gave Klumb a new career-high.

D.C. Everest's defeat dropped their record down to 6-10. As for Marshfield, the win (which was their fifth in a row) raised their record to 9-8.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. D.C. Everest will head out to face off against Stevens Point at 7:15 p.m. on Friday. Stevens Point knows how to get points on the board -- the team has finished with 55 points or more in their past three matchups -- so hopefully D.C. Everest likes a good challenge. As for Marshfield, they will face off against Wausau East at 7:15 p.m. on Friday. Marshfield is facing Wausau East at the right time seeing as Wausau East is stuck on a 12-game losing streak.
