Volleyball Recap: El Cerrito Comes Up Short

El Cerrito's tournament run continued when they took on Santa Cruz on Saturday. The Gauchos took a 2-0 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Cardinals. The Gauchos have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back matches.

Sofia Romo paced El Cerrito's offense, picking up three kills. Romo got some help from Angelina Franklin and her six assists. Romo was also solid from the service line: she led the team with three aces.

El Cerrito's loss dropped their record down to 10-8. As for Santa Cruz, they are on a roll lately: they've won nine of their last 11 matches. That's provided a nice bump to their 10-7 record this season.

El Cerrito didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next matchup, a 3-0 win against Kennedy on the 6th. As for Santa Cruz, they have also already played their next contest, a 3-0 victory against Leigh on the 6th.
