Basketball Recap: Beachwood Comes Up Short

Beachwood was not able to break out of their rough patch on Saturday as the team picked up their fourth straight loss. They received a blow as they fell 66-51 to the Orange Lions. While the Bison didn't get the win, they did start the game off strong, beating the Lions 16-10 in the first quarter.

Luke Schmotzer continued his habit of posting crazy stat lines for Orange, going 6 for 13 on his way to 19 points in addition to eight boards and six assists. Those 19 points gave Schmotzer a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Jean-Marie Morris-Barrie, who almost dropped a double-double on ten points and nine rebounds.

Beachwood's defeat dropped their record down to 1-6. As for Orange, they pushed their record up to 5-5 with the win, which was their third straight at home.

Beachwood and Orange could both be facing uphill battles in their next games considering their disadvantage in the MaxPreps Ohio Rankings. Beachwood (ranked 667th) will meet Trinity (ranked 302nd) at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Meanwhile, Orange (ranked 478th) will meet Hawken (ranked 142nd) at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
